Punters come for the two “red” horses to win the 2017 Grand National on Saturday

We’re fast approaching the world’s most famous steeplechase, with Definitly Red potentially about to go off favourite for the 2017 Grand National.

The Brian Ellison-trained horse has been the subject of a gamble this week, with Ladbrokes now making him the 10/1 favourite to win the prestigious race and there is sure to be more money coming on the day.

The name Definitly Red will attract supporters of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal among others. The fact that the horse is also among the favourites will make plenty of appeal.

There is also the fact that Definitly Red was the impressive winner of the Grimthorpe Stakes last time out, a good pointer for the National although there is some stiff competition for a race that every owner and trainer wants to win.

Vieux Lion Rouge is another horse likely to be popular with those of a “red” persuasion, with the David Pipe-trained horse having won a Grand National trial last time out at Haydock.

It is believed that the horse is well-weighted for the Aintree showdown and that’s reflected in the 11/1 with Ladbrokes that Vieux Lion Rouge runs a big race and lands the National.

Blaklion and One For Arthur are both 12/1 chances, with Blaklion having finished second behind Vieux Lion Rouge at Haydock and it was a narrow runner-up position despite being loaded with weight.
